Have you also been at conferences that were well organized, somewhat inspiring, but also pretty boring? We have been. Not this time.

Searching for what makes a conference a festival, it was yesterday we found a concept we believe in with ModelMinds. Being partner of the Mixe – Zorgmarketing Festival 2011 in Maarssen, it was great to bring in some creative artists from our pool. Next to our workshop on visual thinking, we invited the ‘Instantverslaggevers‘ – Matthijs, Harry and Krijn Peter to work with us. During the day, they were capturing quotes, made illustrations and poems. The work was presented on the different digital screens but also with an on-stage performance:

For sure artists bring a lot of creativity to the festival. However, from our perspective,

The real contribution of artists lies in that they make fun of things. They point out details nobody notice. Or speak out what nobody else dares to say (but everybody thinks). Artists make it light. Not too deadly serious. Artists are the other end of the regular power-point-suits-business-networking mix.

Especially yesterday it was a success. It was then that I realized the need for artists at conferences. And they should exactly be who they usually are: our societal consciousness. How? By being visionary, different, brutally honest, and by bringing in remarkable perspectives. Having a trackrecord of working together with artists, we would love to working together with more of you out there. Results of our instantverslaggever-guys, find it here:
